Brian B. Jacobus, Jr., D.D.S., M.S. – Orthodontist in Port St. Lucie, Florida
Dr. Jacobus (or Dr. J as he is known to his patients) has lived in St. Lucie County most of his life. He attended elementary school at St. Anastasia and high school at John Carroll High in Fort Pierce. Dr. J received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, Maryland and his D.D.S. from Georgetown School of Dentistry in Washington, D.C. Dr. J then received his master’s degree and Orthodontic Certificate during his Orthodontic Residency at Georgetown in 1985. He has practiced orthodontics exclusively since that time.
As a Major in the US Air Force, Dr. Jacobus served as Chief of Orthodontics at RAF Lakenheath, England and was Special Orthodontic Consultant for five Air Force bases.
Dr. J is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association and the Southern Society of Orthodontists. He is a past President of the Florida Association of Orthodontists, a past President of the Treasure Coast Dental Society and a past delegate to the Florida Dental Association. He now serves as the President Elect of the Southern Association of Orthodontists and is an alternate delegate to the House of Delegates of the American Association of Orthodontists. He was also honored with a Fellowship in the American College of Dentistry.
A former guest lecturer at Indian River Community College, Dr. Jacobus taught orthodontic assisting and was the Florida Association of Orthodontists examiner for the certification of orthodontic assistants in the area.
Dr. J is married and has three children and three grandchildren. He lives in St. Lucie West, where Dr. Jacobus is continually trying to improve his golf game, follow his son's Little League team and take the occasional time out to flyfish in the Indian River Lagoon.
