About The Doctor

Dr. Jacobus (or Dr. J as he is known to his patients) is married to Kim and has three children, Brittany, Bethany and Brian Matthew. He attended elementary school at St. Anastasia and John Carroll High School in Fort Pierce. He graduated with honors with a B.S. in Biology from Mount St. Mary’s College in Emmitsburg, MD, a D.D.S. from Georgetown Dental School and received his Masters Degree in Oral Biology and his Orthdontic Certificate during his Orthodontic Residency at Georgetown in 1985. He has practiced orthodontics exclusively since that time.

As a Major in the US Air Force, Dr. Jacobus served as Chief of Orthodontics at RAF Lakenheath, England and was Special Orthodontic Consultant for 5 Air Force bases.

Dr. J is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association and the Southern Society of Orthodontists. He serves as the Immediate Past President of the Florida Association of Orthodontists, is a past President of the Treasure Coast Dental Society and is Legislative Contact for the Florida Dental Association. He is also a delegate representing the Southern Association of Orthodontists to the American Association of Orthodontists.

A former guest lecturer at Indian River Community College, Dr. Jacobus taught orthodontic assisting and was the Florida Association of Orthodontists examiner for the certification of orthodontic assistants in the area.

Dr. Jacobus is an avid sports fan, is continually trying to upgrade his golf game and enjoys flats and backcountry fishing.
